Skeeter Creek at Riverlink Park

Amsterdam, New York has a beautiful asset on the Mohawk River in the form of Riverlink Park. Called the best boat docking site on the Mohawk River, it offers such amenities as a restaurant, electric hook ups, pump out station, laundry and showers for boaters. One of the best features is the Riverlink Park Concert Series organized by the Amsterdam Waterfront Foundation. The free concerts originally scheduled for Saturday evenings during the months of July and August, have expanded to June and September adding more concerts and events down by the riverside. For a schedule of activities please visit the Riverlink Concerts website. While you’re there, please donate to help the Amsterdam Waterfront Foundation to continue to present these wonderful concerts for the public to enjoy.

Skeeter Creek, voted the best county artists in the Capital Region, played last evening.

Spring Fling 2016

Amsterdam, New York celebrates Spring with a street festival! Time to get outside, enjoy the weather and your neighbors. This year’s event was bigger than ever thanks to Mayor Mike Villa and the Recreation Department’s Director Rob Spagnola and his assistant Samantha Bonnano.  With rain forecast for the afternoon, most people visited in the morning. What a great event to bring Amsterdam’s community together.

Skeeter Creek

The Greater Amsterdam Riverlink Park experienced a record-breaking crowd of Skeeter Creek fans as the modern country band performed Saturday evening. With an estimate of over 600 people in attendance, remarks like, wow, unbelievable, amazing and fantastic were echoed in the crowd.

The local country band consisting of Joe Kulewicz – lead guitar/vocals, Dave Ahl – lead vocals, Dean Haskin – drums, Dominic Paratore – keyboards/vocals, Rikk Anderson – steel guitar/vocals, Renee Lussier – vocals and Juan Lopez – bass/vocals is just soaring in popularity with a fan base that has quadrupled since last season. Their performance last night of popular country songs and upbeat tempos drew large numbers of people to the dance floor. The high-energy crowd was on their feet moving and singing to the popular tunes while trying to capture images of their favorite band member on portable electronic devices.

The Grove Street Photographer covered the 2012 Skeeter Creek event at Riverlink Park and was able to get some good photos. This year the large number of attendees hindered any hopes of a video but the following images recorded the event.

Skeeter Creek

Voted #1 Country Band in the Capital Region, Skeeter Creek performed at Amsterdam’s RiverLink Park to a packed crowd on Saturday night. The rain held off for the concert this week, but the humidity was up there. That didn’t stop people from dancing!

Paul Gavry, President of the Amsterdam Waterfront Foundation introduced the band and asked for contributions to help keep quality music coming to Riverlink Park. Every concert at the park is free of charge. The bands are paid with funding provided by corporate sponsors and donations, so if you can give, please do.
